Margot Ellsworth
Founding attorney
Margot founded Plainclause to sell legal work the way her clients sell theirs: a clear scope and a price on the page.
Margot started at a mid-size firm downtown, writing company agreements and financing documents for startups. She noticed that founders delayed calling a lawyer mostly because they couldn’t guess the bill.
She now forms companies and runs the counsel plan, which means she knows most of the firm’s clients by their first contract.

Before the firm
Margot grew up above her parents’ print shop in Waco, and still thinks every business should be able to read its own contracts.
Outside work she runs the trails along Lady Bird Lake and coaches a youth robotics team.
